REAKTOR Chandelier

Designed by Bernhard Kammel, Designer, Author and Director of REAKTOR
Metalworking | Muharrem Uslu Schlosserei

As part of the renovation and contemporary refitting of the REAKTOR building, the former Grandetablissement Gschwandner, Bernhard Kammel designed the interior of the transdisciplinary arts institution with a feeling for the building’s historical qualities and its future. Modern infrastructure meets the signs of the times in timelessly elegant design solutions.

The chandeliers are inspired by the clear lines of mid-century design and the raw elegance of the REAKTOR building. Consisting of dark steel tubes, the basic structure is covered by LED bars.

For the cinema, the result is a flat, radial chandelier which does not affect the screen projections.

The chandeliers reflect one of the core characteristics of REAKTOR. The arts institution is not just an exhibition space or concert stage, but a workshop for concepts and productions implemented in collaboration with artists of various disciplines. Thus, this approach has been reflected from the very beginning, not only in the programme, but also in REAKTOR’s interior design.

Lymm Hall Chandelier

Designed by Bernhard Kammel, Designer, Author and Director of REAKTOR
Metalworking | Muharrem Uslu Schlosserei
Illuminants | Volto

Given the high interest in the REAKTOR chandeliers, the original design was further iterated for Lymm Hall in Manchester.

Given the somewhat smaller dimensions and context of a living space, the design details and materials of the original design were refined. The illuminated tubes seamlessly emit light in all directions and can be continuously dimmed. The yellow cables converging in the central tube provide a striking colourful accent.

The chandeliers can be custom-made to specific design details and in appropriate dimensions, depending on the context of the space in question.
